Task Forces

New Task Force Chairs & Listings To Be Posted Soon!

From time to time, the National Board of Directors or the National President may identify an individual matter or issue for which they need additional information or input before making a decision or providing further direction to the Organization. In these cases, a Task Force may be formed comprised of volunteers and/or other persons to research the matter, discuss alternative actions and provide the NBOD with a report of their findings. In some cases, a Task Force may be asked to provide a recommendation for action to the NBOD. As opposed to the Advisory Commissions, Task Forces are generally focused on a single issue and have a temporary, limited term.
Things to know:
  • These are volunteer positions

  • Time commitment for Task Force members is anticipated to be 80 to 150 hours per year

  • The positions may involve one or more expense paid trips, normally over weekends

  • You may be required to take additional training if selected for the position

Current Openings

Following are descriptions of the Task Forces and working groups currently seeking volunteers to help shape the future of AYSO.

The Structure and Governance Task Force is seeking volunteers to join the following working groups:

Standard Regional Guidelines Task Force Purpose: Define "The Perfect Region" Investigate and identify the "best practices" of regions that consistently deliver a high quality AYSO experience. Review and revise as necessary the Standard Regional Guidelines to reflect those ‘best practices.’ Advise the Task Force on ways to increase adoption of these ‘best practices’ by all regional boards.

Roles/Responsibilities, Task Force Purpose: For all levels of the organization, review current tasks and time commitments required for proper execution of management responsibilities. Make recommendations to the full task force regarding modification of tasks if any, if tasks are not performed, who and how should deficiencies be addressed and what is a appropriate role, authority and interaction with National Office staff to facilitate a more effective organization.

Reorganization / Organizational Structure Task Force Purpose: Review AYSO's current four-tiered structure [Region, Area, Section and National] to determine the historical perspective of how we arrived at this structure. Examine the concerns, problems and challenges with the current structure. Determine the future needs of the organization in light of our current demographics and needed growth. Based on these needs determine what possible alternative structures might provide a better means of governance for AYSO as an organization.
