AYSO Has Successful Time at NSCAA!

AYSO joined 5,000 soccer coaches and 10,500 attendees at the annual National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Convention last week in Baltimore, Md. The convention is the largest annual gathering of soccer coaches in the world and featured live field demonstrations, lecture sessions, networking opportunities and much more.

AYSO had an exciting time being an exhibitor at the convention. The opening night, AYSO was joined by FOX Sports' Tony DiCicco, Eric Wynalda, Brad Friedel and Cleatus, who all signed autographs and took photos with fans! The staff at AYSO’s always crowded booth was able to spread the AYSO message and promote our National Coaching program.

AYSO also had five sessions presented on our behalf. Karen Mihara, AYSO's Manager of Business Solutions, Safe Haven and Special Projects, presented "Creating a Safe Haven for Players and Volunteers," Player Development Specialist Scott Snyder presented a session called "Zone 1...We Really Care!" and Section Resource Specialist Niall Foy presented "How to Recruit and Train Effective Parent Coaches." In addition, FOX Sports’ Executive Vice President of Communications and Integration Chris Hannan was involved in a panel called, "How to Engage Brands with Your Youth Soccer Club," where he was joined by other experts in the field. In this panel, he talked about all of the success both FOX Sports and AYSO has gained through our valuable partnership. Lastly, Ian McMahon, AYSO’s National Executive Director, participated in a panel that gave input about youth soccer in the real world.

Later at the awards dinner, AYSO gave out the NSCAA’s Robert W. Robinson High School Long Term Service Award. This year’s award honored Larry Waters from Albuquerque, N.M. Waters is now retired following 40 years of service to the high school game as a coach, teacher and administrator.

AYSO is honored to be an expert in the soccer community and to make a successful contribution at such a well respected event!
