Sunny it’s great to see you again! Now tell us, how was your first season with AYSO?
It was great! I made a lot of new friends and got to spend time with my family. Getting pizza with the team after a big win was the best! I kept playing goalkeeper and even tried out different positions throughout the season. They were all fun, but midfielder was really hard. I could barely concentrate!
Glad to hear you are having so much fun! So what’s this I hear about your mom embarrassing you?
My mom wanted to get in shape for the summer so she joined the North American Adult Soccer Organization (NAASA). She loves it and always makes team colored ribbons for all of her friends on the team. It was so embarrassing at first; I used to go to her games in disguise and usually hid by the juice stands! I couldn’t believe it when she told me. I thought AYSO soccer was only for kids like me! It’s not so bad anymore though. We get to practice what we’ve learned together so we become better players. She is coming with me to the National Games! I can’t wait!
That’s right! The Games are coming up this summer. What are you looking most forward to at the National Games?
I am so excited for the National Games! They are being held in Torrance and Riverside, Calif., which are both right by my house. Torrance is where AYSO first got started so it will be super cool to be a part of it all. I can’t wait to meet all of the kids from other states and find out what they do for fun! I am going to be sure to wear my good luck 50th Anniversary uniform, so we will score a lot of goals!
I see that you are wearing your 50th Anniversary uniform right now! How has it brought you luck this season?
As soon as I started my first game in the uniform I felt the goodness. It wasn’t until the middle of the season that I began wearing it to bed the night before, so I would get even more good luck from it! Sometimes we win and other times we don’t, but I always have a good time when my jersey is on. If I ever feel tired or like giving up, I look at the 50th Anniversary patch that says, “Everyone Plays®” and I remember that I am a part of something that my grandpa, Philip Pulp played in.
