As the winter approaches, there isn't a more important time to make sure that your Region's players and parents are safe as it gets darker earlier in the day.
Here are four tips to ensure all AYSO families and players are safe in the dark:
1. Make sure that all practices are well lit.
2. Remind parents to walk young players to and from their designated practice area. Parents should also be reminded to pick up players on time and to use caution when driving near the fields.
3. Delegate who will be responsible for turning the field’s lights on and off (if they aren’t on a timer) and make sure a volunteer isn’t walking to their car alone.
4. Ask coaches to carefully examine the field for potential hazards that blend in the shadows toward dusk.
