AYSO kicked off the first EXPO of the year in Phoenix, Ariz. The weekend was filled with workshops, goodies from AYSO National Sponsors, networking and recognition of top volunteers for their hard work.
It also happened to be AYSO’s National Executive Director, Ian McMahon’s first AYSO EXPO.
“It was an incredible experience” said McMahon. “Seeing volunteers with such diverse backgrounds and experience levels learning from each other and exchanging ideas to improve the youth soccer experience. Passionate volunteers from every corner of the country coming together for one common goal. There’s really nothing like it.”
As for awards and recognition, there were five Regions and one Area reaching the Platinum level and 10 Regions and three Areas reaching the Gold level. There were also 37 Years of Service pins given to volunteers who've reached milestones, including two awards recognizing 25 years of service!
The VIP (Very Important Player) program also had a great showing. Eric Stauffer (Region 310 VIP Coach and RC) and Melani Jaskowiak (Section 12 VIP Administrator) shared honors and received the Section 12 VIP Award during the awards luncheon.
