More than 2,500 participants spanning across hundreds of Regions took the Fit from the Sidelines 30 Day Step Challenge, walking over 450,000 miles.
Congratulations to Region 88 from Glendale and La Crescenta, Calif., for walking the most steps, with a total of 10.5 million steps from all participants in the Region. The grand prize winner chosen from the Region was Raffaele Giancotta, who received a fitness prize pack worth over $200!
Four runner-ups were chosen among all the Challenge participants to receive fitness trackers. Those lucky winners were David Kuiper from Region 143 in Huntington Beach, Calif., Bredine Langello from Region 715 in East Providence, R.I., Patrick Dean from Region 459 in Shelby, Utica and Macomb, Mich., and Kristen Selinske from Region 1398 in Yorba Linda, Calif.
Through this program, AYSO parents and volunteers sent a strong message about the importance of physical fitness and were great role models for their kids and players! Did you know that children with active parents are more likely to become healthy, active adults?
