Clarification of Budget Signature Process

With the June 1 due date for Region budgets approaching, questions have arisen regarding submission of those budgets with the spreadsheet form that has an Area Director signature box or via NAP Online that does not have an approval requirement. Direction was provided to staff to research the process arrangement and requirements. A review of the minutes from the prior years’ meetings of the National Board of Directors (NBOD) indicates that current budgets being on file or submitted with Executive Member appointment or reappointment request forms, were part of the improvements recommended by the Executive Member Expired Term Task Force. 
 
The Task Force did not recommend, nor did the NBOD request or approve the addition of the Area Director approval signature on the Region Budget form. Area Directors and Section Directors are integral components to a Region’s resource pool and both are to be advised of a Region's budget completion. Each should be provided a copy of the spreadsheet form or notification that the budget has been completed in NAP Online. 
 
The National Office has been directed to accept the budgets as submitted. Follow up by the Financial Management Services group at the National Office will begin in mid-June for Regions whose budgets have not been received with Area Directors and Section Directors advised on the progress within their groups of Regions.
