The AYSO Extended Play Task Force, initially formed in 2007 to develop AYSO player programs that provide a more challenging soccer experience but also retain the spirit of AYSO, became the National Extended Play Advisory Commission (NEPAC) by a vote of the National Board of Directors (NBOD) at their August meeting. AYSO commissions serve in an advisory capacity to the NBOD.
The new commission will research, analyze, develop and recommend any new programs that provide AYSO players a more challenging level of soccer and an opportunity for individual growth. NEPAC will provide continuous training and development to educate members on new player programs approved by the NBOD. It will also support and improve existing extended play programs such as EXTRA™ and serve as a member resource.
Applications are now being accepted for the inaugural commission membership with a submission deadline of Sept. 15, 2014. A completed application along with a personal resume with relevant professional and volunteer experience should be submitted to Frankie Shabsin by Sept. 15, 2014.
The original Extended Play Task Force was created to develop programs for those players who possess the appropriate interest, skills and abilities and to enhance each player's experience and individual growth through soccer while retaining the spirit and organization of AYSO. As a result, the EXTRA™ pilot program was put in place to strengthen AYSO by offering players and volunteers an additional primary program operated under the AYSO philosophies.
