Important Message to Share with Registered Parents

Shortly after registration closes, the phones of every RC and the AYSO National Office starts ringing off the hook with questions of “what’s next?” To avoid a barrage of phone calls asking when practice starts, when coach is going to call, among other questions; it’s important to communicate these things early to parents in an easy to digest manner.

Region 12 in South Torrance has had great success with an email and handout which contains answers to all the most frequently asked questions parents ask. Substitute the red text with information applicable to your Region.

Whew! I’ve registered! Now what?

What’s the Board doing?
Immediately after the last registration date, your Region Board begins the process of putting teams together for the season. When this process is completed, uniforms will be ordered and coaches will be notified.
When do the coaches get their teams?
Coaches should expect to receive their team rosters in on the week of August 22.
When do the players get called?
Teams may begin practice on or after 8/22/2015 and the coaches will typically call players from in late July (but could be later). They’ll give you all the info you need in regards to practice times and location.
It’s August and my coach hasn’t called. What do I do?
Don’t panic if you see teams practicing and your child hasn’t been called—not all teams begin practice at the same time. The very young teams, in particular, don’t typically start practicing until the beginning of September. If your child has not been called by 8/31/2015, send a message to your Division Coordinator. Please visit for contact information.
What else does my child need?
The registration fee includes: complete uniform (jersey, shorts, socks), supplemental accident insurance, team and individual pictures.
In addition, you may need to obtain shoes, shin guards, a soccer ball (size depends on age) and a water bottle.

How often are practices and games?

Practices are held twice a week (field and times determined by your child’s coach). Games will be on Saturdays with the first game on 9/22/2015.
Players withdrawing prior to 7/31/2015 will be issued a refund. After 8/1/2015, refunds will not be provided.
Late registration?
Late registration is still open. If not registered by 7/31/2015, your child could be put on a waitlist.
Please Remember…
AYSO is a parent-based volunteer organization established to provide a positive experience for our children. Go to the games, learn the rules and above all, be tolerant of the children’s coaches and referees who volunteer their time to make this a great organization.
