Most people remember Robin Williams as one of the greatest comedic actors to grace Hollywood, but a lucky few will forever cherish the memories of having Robin Williams in the audience, shouting words of encouragement at their AYSO games.
Section 1 Instructor Gary Whitaker shared a story with us discussing a time an AYSO referee saw Mr. Williams at an AYSO game.
"The referee noticed a loud voice barking at the kids," shared Whitaker. "When the referee listened closer, he noticed that it was all positive and reassuring comments to make both teams feel good."
It’s a rare thing to hear a spectator yelling positive comments to both teams and motivating players to perform at their best. The referee became interested in who the man behind the loud and constant positivity was. When he looked to the sideline, he couldn’t help but have a huge smile on his face—the source of all the positivity was none other than the great Robin Williams.
