Starting an AYSO Adult program in your Area or Region is a great way to increase registration numbers and get members of your community engaged with AYSO.
Area Director (AD) Audrey Castreje from 11Q was passionate about growing AYSO Adult back from her days of being the RC of Region 1398 in Yorba Linda, Calif. Once she became the AD of 11Q, she was able to successfully execute the program. The Area-wide program began with sending emails to volunteers and parents looking to create an AYSO Adult program and is now up to 250 players this year and growing. Read three tips below from Castreje about how to successfully jump start an AYSO Adult program:
1. Find a devoted person to manage it: From talking to the parks and rec department at the city for permits to ordering uniforms and managing all of the details, you’ll want someone who is passionate about AYSO Adult to run the program so it will be successful.
2. Use it for branding in your community: The AYSO logo is a very familiar brand in most communities so associating it with AYSO Adult can help grow it.
3. Be patient: If you create a quality program, it will sustain. At the same time, don’t bite off more than you can chew. Launch AYSO Adult with a cap of how many can join and after the inaugural season, survey participants to see what worked so you can make changes and polish the program.
