Get a jump on next season's registration and start spreading the word to your Region's families and volunteers now. If you catch players, parents and volunteers while they are having a great time participating in the AYSO season, they'll be more enthusiastic about registering for next year. Here are three ways to plant the seed of early registration for an upcoming season:
1. Hold an end-of-season registration event. When your Region is wrapping up the current season, consider planning a small registration event for the next one. During the closing ceremonies or trophy/medal/photo handout, put out a table, registration banners and a few volunteers talking to players, parents or volunteers interested in coming back to AYSO next year for more fun!
2. Ask your coaches to help out. Ask coaches to address their players at the last practice of the season - or perhaps the end-of-season party - and let them know what they've improved upon this season and areas that need further improvement. Coaches should then encourage players and families to sign up for the next season to continue their player development.
3. Incorporate it into your "thank you" outreach. Do you send your volunteers a "thank you" email, mailing, gift, etc? If so, this would be a great opportunity to invite them to register early for the upcoming season. Volunteers will appreciate your gratitude and will be more welcoming to the idea of committing early to another AYSO season.
