National Executive Director
AYSO is currently searching for a National Executive Director (NED). The NED serves as AYSO’s chief professional officer and is responsible for the leadership, management, and growth of the organization. S/he will focus on strategic planning, annual budget development, and implementation and evaluation of all operations in conjunction with the Board of Directors.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the NED provides strategic direction toward achievement of AYSO’s goals and vision. Professional leadership is an integral component of this position. The NED will be expected to be a leader and resource to the Board, staff, and volunteers in addressing AYSO’s opportunities and challenges.
Overseeing an organizational assessment and developing and implementing a strategic plan will be a primary responsibility of the NED. S/he will work with board and appropriate national staff to continually position the national office as responsive to the needs and interest of players across the country.The NED will ensure that AYSO can respond quickly and appropriately to changes and new opportunities in the marketplace. Furthermore, s/he will work closely with members of the national staff to ensure that technologies are in place to allow seamless communication and interaction between the national office and its players and volunteers.
As a national organization, the NED must be a hands-on leader with many constituents. S/he must work to further develop and strengthen relationships between the national office and its staff, area and section directors, and volunteers. AYSO’s strength is derived from its grassroots network, and the NED will spend considerable time bolstering the network and associated relationships to ensure strong and effective local programs.
Candidates must have experience in leading organizations through change. S/he will work with a senior management team to enhance a unified organizational culture where there is clear communication, clarity and uniformity in processes and procedures. The NED will consider best practices models and innovation throughout the organization as they relate to operations, human resources,program management, board management, finance, and marketing and communications.
The ability to build effective teams and motivate and lead staff and volunteers towards AYSO’s growth in number of players and revenue generation through corporate sponsors, foundations, etc. will also be integral to the executive’s success.
