The U.S. qualified for its sixth straight World Cup on Saturday, October 10, in Honduras. In one of the most exciting qualifiers the U.S. has played, the team came back after going down 0-1, and beat Honduras 3-2.
U.S. forward Conor Casey scored the first two U.S. goals of the game–his first two goals at the senior national team level. Landon Donovan put away a free kick in the 71st minute to seal the match for the U.S.
The U.S. joins Mexico as two of the three teams to qualify from CONCACAF, which is the region of the world the U.S. competes in. There is one spot remaining for automatic qualification, the fourth place finisher in CONCACAF will have to play the fifth place finisher in the South America region for a berth in the World Cup.
