AYSO Hall of Famer Referee Appointed To CONCACAF

Congratulations to AYSO Hall of Fame member, Brian Hall, for receiving his appointment as The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football's (CONCACAF) Director of Referee Administration.

Brian's new position will entail working in conjunction with the CONCACAF Referee Committee and the FIFA Referee Assistance Program on the appointment, scheduling and assessment of referees.

Brian got his start in soccer as an AYSO goalkeeper at 14. He got his introduction to officiating when he became a member of the first AYSO PRO (Player Referee Organization) Program. His experience in AYSO proved to be formative throughout his career. "At an early age, AYSO taught me the values of fair play as a player and referee," said Brian. "I have been fortunate to carry those with me throughout my personal, referee and professional life. I couldn't have had a better foundation to assist me in reaching my new appointment."

From that point on, Brian has accomplished impressive feats in the world of refereeing.

At the age of 24, he was the youngest referee to officiate in an NCAA Division 1 men's final and he also officiated the longest NCAA men's final ever, which lasted a grueling eight overtime periods. Brian then moved on to officiating in Major League Soccer (MLS) and FIFA. In 2002, he became the first United States-born official appointed by FIFA to referee in a World Cup.

Brian was inducted into the AYSO Hall of Fame in 2007.
