Every little bit helps ensure that every child gets the AYSO experience.
Last year, the Hugo Bustamante AYSO Playership Fund raised $20,000. Over 300 children were given the opportunity to play soccer that otherwise wouldn't have because of generous donations by other AYSO families.
Stories from the Playership Fund…
“My son, Ayden, was very fortunate to get the playership to play this season in Region 1111. He loves to play soccer and has played since he was four. He’s going to be seven this year. This year has been financially hard on us, and I wasn’t going to afford Ayden’s soccer registration. Thankfully, we were told about this great opportunity, and Ayden was able to play this year. He is very happy and loves the game of soccer. Thank you AYSO for helping our family out!” Amber, Region 1111
“I have been coaching my daughters for the past 6 years and this year has been an economical struggle for our family. We were very disappointed that were not able to pay for soccer this year. It's the one sport that our older daughter strives in. She's a great player and scores a lot during the season. She made it to All-Stars last year and when we had to tell the girls that we might not be able to do soccer this year, they were extremely disappointed. Luckily, we received the phone call that there was funding available for the girls to play after all; because of the Playership Grant. My oldest daughter has scored 18 goals so far this season and has already been approached by coaches for a place in the All-Stars again this year. If it were not for the Playership Grant, we would not have this opportunity for our daughters. Thank you all for your help.” Jeanna, Region 282 | | Get Your Volunteer Hours "Paid" For
Many companies around the U.S. will donate money to organizations whose employees volunteer. AYSO has come up with a list of companies that "pay" employees for volunteer hours.
AYSO volunteer Rand Potter signed up with his then employer Intel to track and get credit for his AYSO volunteer hours. He filled out a form with the number of hours he volunteered and Intel verified that AYSO was a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation.
"Once the AYSO account was setup with Intel, all I had to do was go to the website, fill in the number of hours I volunteer and AYSO gets a check," Rand explained. For the last two years, he has donated his paid hours to the Hugo Bustamante AYSO Playership Fund.
Even if your company isn't on the list, check with your Human Resources department to find out if your company offers this option and let us know!
