AYSO National Games 2012
"Let the Games Begin" – Or At Least the Planning!
The summer of 2012 will bring the 15th AYSO National Games to life! The question: Where will this biannual AYSO showcase occur? From its roots in Southern California, to its latest version this summer in West Palm Beach, Fla, the Games have been held in seven states across the country since 1988.
Any Area or Section can bid to host the Games, which features 220 teams playing soccer and participating in the opening ceremony, Soccerfest, youth event and sportsmanship competition – experiencing the cultural diversity of AYSO and all that is best about our organization! The basic criteria include access to 30 soccer fields in proximity to each other, hotel space for thousands, local attractions and a huge amount of volunteers!
Over the years, each venue weaves a bit of its own spirit into the fabric of this beloved national event. The National Games is everything AYSO - they reflect the excellence, tradition and spirit of our philosophies in every aspect for our players, volunteers and spectators.
If your Area or Section has an interest in submitting a bid to host, the Request for Bid package is available now. Please follow the instructions for submittal. The deadline for submission is May 10, 2010.
The bids will be reviewed by the National Tournament Advisory Commission who will interview viable candidates and will recommend the next choices of venue to the National Board of Directors. It is anticipated that the winning bid will be announced on Sunday, May 30, at the National Annual General Meeting in Denver, Colo.
