Now that the New Year’s celebrations have come to an end, the time to pick up where you left off in 2014 has arrived. Unfortunately, not everything you dig up will be as bliss-inducing as having eggnog by the fire.
As you begin preparing for your next Regional Board meeting, there are probably a few things you’d like to bring up for discussion. The Treasurer’s Report may not have the numbers you wished for and you may be wondering how your Region can reverse declining numbers and get kids to sign up again and parents to continue volunteering.
Then there’s the matter of raising additional funds to ensure training supplies for both Referees and Coaches are covered.
With all these things to worry about, it’s easy to get a bit overwhelmed.
Fortunately, there’s a place you can get all the help you need to build effective strategies for your Regions: AYSO EXPO!
Something that you may not be aware of is that AYSO EXPOs cover topics ranging from player and volunteer retention to effective ways to raise the funds your Region needs to run effectively. This type of information can be found in the EXPO’s “More Soccer for More Kids™” seminar.
In this seminar, you’ll also learn about the many options available to get players, parents and volunteers excited about staying in and expanding their AYSO experience.
These options include:
VIP (Very Important Player) Program - Provides a quality soccer experience for children and adults with physical and/or mental disabilities.
EXTRA™ Program – A competitive program to give players the opportunity to play at a higher level without having to leave AYSO for club soccer.
Secondary Programs – An opportunity for teams to continue playing together upon the conclusion of their primary seasons in both AYSO and non-AYSO tournaments.
Soccerfest Events – Creates an organic type of competition, where teams are formed at the event allowing players to develop friendships and play relaxed pick-up style games.
Funfest – A big, friendly tournament with teams throughout the US participating. Similar to Soccerfest, except intact teams participate.
Indoor games – Provides players with a different playing environment designed to improve footwork, conditioning and to continue building chemistry.
AYSO Soccer Camps – Various training camps ranging from weekend to full week sessions. Designed to provide players with high quality training to keep them technically and tactically fresh during the offseason.
Additional Tournaments – The opportunities are endless! Invite teams from your Region, Area, Section or even non-AYSO teams. You can start small and grow in to something bigger that will bring in more money to the Region (or Area).
Soccer events of varying types and sizes provide valuable opportunities to play beyond the primary AYSO season, which is good for kid’s development and great for building a deeper connection to AYSO from parents and volunteers.
Learn the nuts and bolts of organizing and managing these programs and others at the next “More Soccer for More Kids™” seminar at the AYSO EXPO.
