3 Tips for Wrapping Up Your Season
12/6/2011 4:32:56 PM
If your season is coming to an end, there are 3 simple things you can do to help your players continue to develop, leave a good impression on your parents, and encourage them to return to AYSO next season.
- Follow-up with your players. At your last practice of the season, or perhaps at your team's end-of-season party, address each of your players and let them know what they've improved upon most this season and areas they should focus on for further improvement.
This is also your chance to ask them some questions: Which practices did they enjoy most? What did they learn this season? Do they have a favorite position?
- Help your players improve in the off-season. Encourage your players to continue developing in the off-season by sharing soccer activities they can do with friends or parents (see examples here) and giving them tips for practicing on their own.
- Thank the parents. Your team's parents are a big part of the players' success - they drive them to practices and games, support them from the sidelines and take turns providing snacks. Consider giving your team's parents a thank-you call at the end of the season. This is a case where a little can go a long way!
