Handling the Transition of Youth Volunteers
You may have recently received an email from eAYSO informing you that a youth volunteer in your Region has turned 18 years of age. When a youth volunteer turns 18 years old, his/her eAYSO record is automatically converted to an adult record.
However, the record will be missing a Social Security Number and U.S. Government-issued photo ID. Therefore, every youth volunteer must complete and sign an adult volunteer application upon turning 18, and provide the necessary information.
Unlike player applications, a youth volunteer application is not valid through the remainder of the membership year after turning 18.
As a reminder, no one under the age of 18 can be a team coach, assistant coach or one of the seven required board positions. A youth volunteer is not allowed to supervise other minors or manage players from the coach's area during games. Doing so exposes the Region to significant liability.
Remember to forward all volunteer forms, including youth volunteer applications to the Safe Haven department at the National Office.
