How My Region Celebrated the 4th of July
To celebrate AYSO as the official sponsor of the 4th of July, AYSO Regions all around the nation showcased AYSO in their communities. Last year, Julie Everett, Regional Commissioner (RC) from Region 180 in Santa Ynez, Calif., hosted a wonderful 4th of July event for the parents, players and volunteers in the Region.
Santa Ynez has an annual parade, community fair and fireworks event every year, and to represent AYSO, Julie set up a large corner booth to sell barbeque sandwiches. "We also set up little soccer games for the kids to play while mom and dad were waiting in line for dinner," said Julie. "We hand out stickers, window clings and other AYSO gifts to the kids as well. It's a lot of fun for the kids, we make a little money, the food is great and the best part about it is getting our core group of volunteers together to have some fun and socialize together."
Great job Region 180! If your Region hosted a 4th of July last year, share your experience
with your colleagues! The AYSO sponsorship of the 4th of July is a community branding opportunity for every Region. Many communities host July 4th parades, festivals and other events. These are the perfect places to showcase your AYSO Region in front of exactly the families who may be considering activities for their children...and ways to volunteer with their children! It may be an opportunity for a final registration event, a fundraiser, or just a great way to boost the visibility of your AYSO Region! Learn more about AYSO and the 4th of July.
