3 Keys to Great Region Newsletter
Sending out Region newsletters is a great way to communicate with your Region’s parents and volunteers. Whether you’re publishing deadlines and dates, important reminders or helpful tips, it’s important to make sure that your newsletters are being opened by as many people as possible!
Here are three simple tips that will help you increase your open rate and make your Region’s newsletters a success:
- Craft a good subject and sender – Make a good first impression with an attention-grabbing subject line and recognizable sender – this will help you achieve a good newsletter open rate. What to include: “AYSO” in the sender or subject line. What to leave out: Multiple exclamation points or question marks – these get the attention of the spam filters.
- Keep it simple – Ideally, Region newsletters are used to remind parents, coaches, referees and others of important deadlines, things to remember and useful tips. Try to stay away from lengthy articles and keep things short and simple. If someone needs further explanation on a topic, include contact information in the article for follow-up questions.
- Consistency is key – Set up a newsletter schedule and let readers know when they should be expecting it to arrive in their inboxes. Create a schedule based on what’s best for you or the designated newsletter editor – weekly, bi-weekly or monthly.
To help tackle the work and ensure consistency, consider creating a position on your board solely for the newsletters. AYSO recommends Constant Contact
as a newsletter provider.
