4 Registration Season Tips from an AYSO Section Director
recently sat down with Bob Daniel, AYSO Section Director for Section 12, for his four favorite tips for RCs in the midst of registration season.
- Train your Board Members and make sure they know what to expect during “busy season”.
- Stress to your Board the need to respond in a timely manner, between 24-48 hours.
- Make sure that your Region’s post office, voicemail box and email inbox are assigned to someone on your Board who is consistently monitoring and updating them.
- When you get an angry parent on the phone, take the opportunity to reach out to them to see if they are willing to help. “We are a little shorthanded and could use some more help. Sounds like you have some great ideas, would you like to join us?”
Overall, Bob believes that positivity is the key to having a successful season. “The key to getting our participants to return is making sure they have a positive, fun experience. That includes the volunteers, players and parents,” shares Bob. “If we think of them as our valuable customers who we want to see next season, we will do the right things and get many of them to return.”
