Does Your Region Have A Waitlist Policy?
It May Be Time To Rethink It
Today’s economy and employment uncertainty directly impacts when parents decide they can afford to sign up their child for AYSO. Many parents hear about AYSO registration but must wait until the last possible moment to register. If your Region historically uses a waitlist please review that policy with your entire Regional Board. Please make sure that you don’t close registrations too early before your season begins.
Your Regional team can help. Ask yourselves the following questions:
What is the maximum number of teams we can support based on available fields and supporting volunteers?
How much time do we really need to organize and provide the necessary training?
Can we hold several additional "late registrations" to accommodate the financial challenges of today’s parents?
More players doesn’t have to mean more work. Have a roundtable discussion with all Region Board Members on how to get more volunteers, increase field availability, and offer special welcoming orientations for new parents.
Would you be part of the AYSO experience if your child had been placed on a waiting list and never called? Every child should have the opportunity to play AYSO soccer and every parent should know the fun of volunteering. We are building a lifetime experience of AYSO soccer fun.
