What is a playership?
A playership is an AYSO National scholarship. A playership will cover 80% of a Region's registration fee.
How do I apply to get a playership?
Fill out the
application and submit it to the AYSO National Office. Only complete applications will be considered.
How much will my playership be?
Playerships are 80% of your Region's registration fee.
Is any one allowed to apply?
Applicants must be registering and participating in the Region's standard primary program. Funding will not be made for All Star, tournaments or other secondary opportunities. No playerships will be available for non-approved programs.
How will I know that you've received my application?
An email will be sent to the applicant and the Regional Commissioner on-receipt of the application.
Does the player I apply for have to be my son or daughter? Can it be a granddaughter, grandson, niece or nephew – or even friend?
You have to be the legal guardian of the applicant.
When is the deadline to apply?
There will be three cycles for this year's playership grant. The first cycle deadline is noon (PDT) on April 30, 2013; the second cycle deadline is noon (PDT) on June 26, 2013; the third cycle deadline is noon (PDT) on July 31, 2013.
Who makes the decision of who will receive a playership?
Approval of grants will be determined by the AYSO National Endowment Commission.
How do I know if I've been chosen to receive a playership?
Parents and Regions will be notified within 30 days of the cycle deadline.
If I am chosen to receive a playership when will I receive the money?
The Region will receive a check directly.
Is there an age limit (maximum or minimum) for players able to apply to receive a playership?
There is no age limit. The player just has to be registered in a primary play program.
What are the odds that I'll receive a playership?
The country is large and there are many families in need in these tough economic times. The chances of receiving a playership will be dependent on the number of families which apply.
If I am not chosen to receive a playership may I apply again next year?
Yes.
I have more than one child. Can they both apply for a playership?
Yes. You will have to fill out a separate application for each player. Due to limited resources, if one application is accepted, there are no guarantees that other applications will also be accepted.
I already paid for my child's registration, but I just found out about the playership—can I still apply?
Yes, you can still apply for a playership. If you receive a playership, your Region will reimburse you the amount you were awarded.
