Tidbits Spring 2018

PLAYSOCCER Spring 2018

Welcome our new faces!

AYSO has welcomed several new team members since winter 2017. We were very excited to welcome Al Prado, Business Solutions Analyst, Scott Snyder, Director of Programs and Education, Yvonne Lara, Director of Marketing and Communications, Paul Bright, National Director of Coaching for AYSO United, in December and Taidgh Simpson, Referee and Programs Administrator, this spring. All have been a welcome addition to the team, and we hope you all get the chance to meet and work with them soon!

Mark your calendars!

There are many exciting events coming up this summer and fall! The National Open Cup will be this July 13-15 at the Lancaster National Soccer Center. There are still spots available, so visit  www.AYSONationalOpenCup.org to register today!

Residential Soccer Camp registration is now open! The week-long camp will take place at Chapman University in Southern California, July 22-27. The camp is geared for players 12-16 who not only want to develop their soccer skills but also their leadership abilities. Visit www.AYSO.org/Camps for more information.

Fall season is around the corner! We know you are in full swing for fall registration, recruiting volunteers and building teams. Remember, any asset templates (e.g., flyers, banners, social media, and logos) that you need will be available in our Marketing Toolkit on our website or by contacting our Marketing and Communications Department at marketing@AYSO.org.

Around the country with AYSO!

AYSO has been one busy place this year! We kicked off 2018 with the United Soccer Coaches Convention in Philadelphia, where several staff members represented AYSO and AYSO United at our booth. We then sent a delegation to Orlando for the U.S. Soccer Annual General Meeting to vote for the new president and represent AYSO on several national councils. Our own National Executive Director, Mike Hoyer, was in Washington D.C. twice this spring to advocate for more youth sports participation alongside the Sports Fitness Industry Association (SFIA) and to attend the U.S. Soccer Foundation’s 2018 Symposium in Washington D.C., where he also was a panelist.

On the EXPO front, we had a full season of events from Connecticut to Hawaii! Congrats to Sections 3, 5, 6 and 8 for hosting wonderful Section-run EXPOs and thank you to Section 1, 10, 11, 2, 9, 12 and 7 for your collaboration in hosting successful events in Las Vegas and Hawaii.
